A Florida-based company has become an industry leader in the smartphone market, offering a choice to customers that is normally limited to what is often considered a low-end phone. BLU Products is the manufacturer of unlocked devices in the United States and pride themselves on supporting a quickly growing portion of the mobile business in the the USA. Creating phones that are available for use on just about any network or carrier, BLU Products allows their customers to choose from a multitude of plans with nearly all of the major and minor service providers in the industry without having to pay the hefty prices that many carriers charge for the devices that can only be used on their own network.

On August 6th, BLU Products unveiled the STUDIO C Series of smartphones, which includes the Studio C and the Studio CE. These phones are considered high-end Android smartphones at a price that is rarely seen outside of multi-year contracts. Priced and unlocked through Amazon, the STUDIO C and CE are set at $109.00 and $89.00 respectively.

Both the C and the CE carry the same internal equipment. Each run Android 4.4 KitKat, the latest Android platform, and are powered by a Dual-Core 1.3GHz processor, allowing for a high level of multitasking. Each phone offers Dual-SIM support which allows the phone to be carried to nearly any carrier in the United States. A 5.0 Megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording accompanies a front facing camera for all the conveniences of higher priced alternatives. 4GB of internal memory and a 32GB expandable microSD slot allows for a great deal of internal storage at a customizable level. In addition, the C allows for 4G speeds on any GSM network in the country, along with standard WiFi capability. This is the key difference between the C and the CE. Lacking the 4G speed, the CE rests at a lower price, though it allows a customer on a smaller budget to still be able to access any applications that require broadband speed through Wifi, leaving a data-based plan off of a monthly or pay-as-you-go bill.

Both versions of the phone have a 5.0” screen at a resolution of 480×854, a definition that falls beneath HD levels. However, a version of the Studio C series, known as the Studio C HD, exists that allows for 720p HD, though the screen is 4.7”. The increased visual capability, the Quad-Core 1.3GHz processor and doubled RAM size, from 512MB to 1GB, set the HD at a higher price, though only a small amount for what comes in the phone at $149.00.

BLU Products seems to be supporting a growing trend in mobile users unhappy with the often limited choices major carriers offer at usually high prices who are looking for cheaper, but still useful, alternatives. These phones, and a host of others, give these options to the customer along with the promise of more innovation to come.

The STUDIO C Series is available now through Amazon and other nationwide retailers.
