The Weekly News Roundup: iPhone Edition!

Once again here at mobiletweaks.net, it’s time for the News Roundup! Last week we focused only on Android News. This week, we’re showing a little more Apple love! So let’s see what’s been happening with Cupertino’s most famous business.

It seems that the newest iPhone, the 6 and the 6 Plus, may have some structural issues. Only days after many customers started receiving their latest Apple devices, many were reporting that their iPhones were actually ending up bent after spending time doing something as innocent and common as spending time in their front pocket. It seems that the 6 Plus with its larger size is reportedly culpable to the entire device being bent after being exposed to what most consider normal stress on the phone itself. Many are blaming, rightfully, the only bit of support that the phone has in its slimmer design is the thin aluminum backing. While it doesn’t seem to be causing issue with the phone’s performance, Apple is still reportedly replacing some of the more severe cases. And, speaking of cases, with many of the protective cases on back order, users are simply having to be extra careful with their expensive devices.

Continuing with issues surrounding Apple’s new releases, the update to last week’s iOS 8’s release, 8.0.1, seems to have some pretty serious problems. On the latest iPhone models it seems that 8.0.1 can actually keep you from using your TouchID function and, in many cases, can even kick out your cell service with the device. If you happen to be one of the unlucky ones that has been plagued by this issue, you have the option of downloading the original iOS 8 image for your iPhone 6 directly from Apple and reinstalling the previous version of the OS. Apple has already pulled the 8.0.1 update from the Update section of the iPhone and are currently working on fixing the host of issues that the update brought along.

In some good news, Riffsy GIF Keyboard has landed for iOS 8! It is just what the name says it is, a GIF-based keyboard for reactions that you can easily access, sort, and add to with just a few taps of your finger. Check it out here and get to having as much fun with it as me and my friends here at mobiletweaks.net have been!

With sales over 10 million for both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, it seems that the 6 is shaping up to be the most successful iPhone release yet. While Apple is incredible happy with the turnout of their phone, and who wouldn’t be with a contracted $200 price tag (at its cheapest) and 10 million units sold, they are hoping that the attention sheds some much wanted light to their iWatch line. While popular, sales haven’t been what they’ve been hoping for. The latest iteration of health apps is hoping to turn that around and bring the growing wearable market into one that Apple can have a definitive foothold in during a time where Android was really the first to fire the opening shots.
